1989
Celtic Classic was moved up to the last weekend in September to save it’s patrons from the chance of frostbite. Attendance was nearly doubled from the previous year, with more than 50,000 visitors. The Sun Inn Courtyard and Community Arts Pavilion were dropped and the Tavern in the Glen tent added. The rugby competition was also dropped, but Irish step dancing, the Lehigh Valley Country Dance Society, and a March, Strathsprey and Reel Competition which featured solo piping were added. Coors Brewing Company, in cooperation with Geiger Beverage Company, became a major co-sponsor of the event, introducing Killian’s Red to the Lehigh Valley.
